The King of Time: Selected Writings of the Russian Futurian
Published in Paperback by Harvard Univ Pr (October, 1990)
Authors: Velimir Khlebnikov, Charlotte Douglas, Velmir Khlebnikov, and Paul Schmist
Average review score:

They don't write em like this anymore
The King of Time is the best of that wacked out genre we call the manifesto. Khlebnikov imagines a future that is half socialist utopia, half bladerunner. The most outlandish idea might be the transparent glass spheres stacked up like bee hives in which we would live if old Velimir had his way. What makes this work a palatable read is that it's heavy on imagining new ways of social interaction but light on theorizing -- the guy's got concrete, if bizarre, ideas. Add to this enough exclamation marks to choke a donkey and you get something akin to Marx's Communist Manifesto -- only this time, it's in technicolor. Of all the crazy stuff coming out of Russia during and after the Bolshevik revolution, this work most clearly conveys the enthusiasm of artist-politicos in their attempts to reorder society. If you think "communist" is a bad word, read The King of Time -- it'll give you a new perspective.

more than what it seems
this bbok is one of the better romance stories i have read for a while. The book begins at the end of WW1 with george coming home from the war and metting his finacee amelia at the train station from there it moves on to how the war effected george and their marriage. The story has intrigue and mystery in it as well as a magical aspect which is explined throughout the book but is not completely done so. i was left wondering a little what was happening until the end when everything seems to fall into place. I have had this book for a while and picked it up to read as i had nothing else to read. I reccomemnd this book to anyone who likes a true to life story with just a hint of magic.

Life? or Theatre?
Published in Paperback by Waanders Pub (May, 1999)
Authors: Charlotte Salomon and Judith C. E. Belinfante
Average review score:

Life ? Theatre ? You are the director
It's a journey into time... I have bought after seeing the exhibition of Charlotte works in London. The book, which is a collection of her paintings, takes the visitor through her animated 'play' into her life, the destruction withing her and around her. But the beauty prevails.

Looking at Pictures: An Introduction to Art for Young People
Published in Hardcover by Abrams Books for Young Readers (March, 1997)
Authors: Joy Richardson and Charlotte Voake
Average review score:

art for youth
I checked out this book from the library because, as an adult, I felt I didn't know enough about paintings to appreciate them fully when I visited an art gallery. This book briefly covers a large number of aspects of art including color, perspective, portraits, and landscape. The paintings used as examples are many and varied and they are beautifully reproduced. I learned many things but as I read, I came up with many more questions the book did not answer. However, I am a 36-year-old college graduate. I believe that the book is quite informative for its recommended age group: 9-12. I am getting a copy for my artistic nephew's tenth birthday.

i'm lovestruck ?
why the Q mark there ? Hmm..to begin with, I am a fan of CHARLOTTE L. eversince i knew Harlequin books.. I bought all her books I can pay whenever I see them in bookstores.. One thing that upset me a little is I'm still looking for a couple who can outdone Judith & Luke of INFATUATION and Nicholas and his Lois Lane (I forgot her name !!!) of SCANDALOUS.. Sam and what's-her-name are okay, James and Patience are nice too..but I want more tension, fun and adventure !! Think U can do it for me,Charlotte ?

Mangaboom

Authors: Charlotte Pomerantz and Anita Lobel

Strong Female Role
My family, including my 8-year-old daughter, love this book. The illustrations are great, the story fun and straight forward, and the ending a delightful surprise. Why does the Grizwaldo look so much like Daniel? What my family most likes about the book is the strongly positive female role model. We have many books with strong females, but Mangaboom has a light, joyful self assuredness that we have seldom seen. Really a winner.

A book for a working mom's child
This was one of my first books, and still one of my favorite from my childhood. This book shows the idea of day care from the eyes of a child. The feelings that Marsha Lou has are very similar to that of many day care children. If you know of any child who has working parents, or any child for that matter, make sure you read this book to them. I know that you and your child will love it as much as I did!!
